About Susreti

The traditional Convention of Bosniaks in North America (Susreti) is an annual event sponsored by the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in America. The first Susreti took place back in 1996 in Toronto. These conventions serve as a network of religious, political, cultural, and sports events, and they are undoubtedly the largest event for Bosniaks in this part of the world.

Initially, the convention was held during the last weekend of May, preceding the American holiday of Memorial Day. Since 2015, they have been scheduled for Labor Day weekend, which is the first weekend in September. For us Bosniaks, this occasion holds special importance because it provides a unique opportunity to come together, discuss issues, and present ideas that will further connect our homeland and the country where we currently reside.

With the aim of continuous development and progress for the overall Bosniak diaspora in North America, as well as promoting positive values of Islam and Bosniak culture and traditions within the broader American society, these gatherings focus on showcasing successful Bosniaks, especially young individuals, from various fields such as science and business. Additionally, they foster inter-religious dialogue and provide a platform for interaction with representatives of the American administration. See you at Susreti!
